That's me standing in front of the Burning Man.   The neon glow was enough to light up the surrounding area at night.

This man, starved for media attention, decided to stand under the Burning Man completely naked and flaunting his manhood.  The sunset on this particular day seemed to encompass the entire sky in a 360 degree panorama.

The Man on his fateful night. Shortly after a stunt man engulfed in flames ignited the 40 foot wood and burlap structure.

The Man, loaded with pyrotechnics, gave a great show.

With plenty of free self-expression going around you didn't have to go far to find something interesting to experience.  Have you ever had the urge to remove your clothes and dance in front of a burning volcano with an audience of thousands?  She did.

Bringing tons of Ice to the middle of a hot desert, hours away from the nearest big city, is no simple feat.  This is one of many Ice sculptures.   It has a flame shooting out of the top and halogen lights at the base.  This is only one of the many art displays that left you saying, "How did they..."

Body paint anyone?  A place where anyone can go to paint or be painted day or night.

Our camp site, complete with sun shade and Tiki Lamps.  Lucy and I filled a 4X6 U-Haul Trailer and a Ford Explorer with "Stuff" to bring.  Driving from Los Angeles, we had no idea what to expect, so we brought everything.

In Reno we purchased a small pool and filled it with 70 gallons of water we brought in 5 gallon Arrowhead water bottles.  This was a welcome relief in the mid-day heat, and a bath on the Monday morning we left.

Bruce and Lucy on a mobile crucifix.  Squeeze your hands and one of two motors would propel this contraption.  Fitted with sun shade by day, and torch by night.

A nearby hot mud spring was a great departure for many.  Take off you clothes and jump into a naturally warm mud pit!   Then lay on shore and let it dry.

Hot springers use this interesting shower to rinse off.
Someone was filming an independent film on a shoestring budget and took advantage of the Hot Spring's natural mineral deposits, which I suppose can pass as an alien planet.  Who is this man and what is he doing?  I didn't ask.
I don't know how, but someone made a 10 foot SOLID ICE ball and managed to get it to Burning Man.  This is a picture showing the remnants of a fire shooting drilling rig that attempted to drill through the ice cube.  I wasn't there to see it when it happened.

Monday morning, post burn.  These people are still dancing from the night before, as is typical to all night raves.  I thought this picture said it all for this guy.  Cigarette in one hand, jug of wine in another, and warm female companionship.
The "rave" was thumping a steady stream of music all night long across the endless expanse of desert with an impressive sound system you'd expect from a concert in the city.  Who actually slept that night anyway?
A cool picture that comes close to representing the eclectic mix of people.  Remember to always carry water with you in the desert.
